I had suffered from terrible RJ for about 2 weeks. Fell into the trap of quizzing my GF of 6 months about a sexual encounter she had before we went “exclusiveâ€. I got way more details than I needed and thought I would easily get over it at first...but it chipped away at me to the point where I wouldn’t talk to her and wanted to break up with her. Our relationship was perfect up until that point and I didn’t want to jeopardize it. After reading a few online forums I still got the same anxiety only a few hours later, or when waking up. But I feel like a different person after reading this. I don’t recognize the man that I was beforehand. I know it is not an instant cure, but I’m confident I’m heading into the right direction. And it’s made me realize that I need to change my outlook on life in general. Thank you!
Oh thank goodness for this book.. It helped me tremendously.. I knew i had a problem, and i didn't even know what it was called, somehow someway i found this book online and it has become my north star.. The term "Retroactive" Jealousy is the perfect way to describe what I've been dealing with.. i thought jealousy was just jealousy, that it was all the same, but no, Retroactive Jealousy is a different kind and it's much more manipulative and needs a different method of help to overcome.. This book did it for me. I have broken free from the spiraling hell hole of demonizing my partners and their past.. It's not a huge book, you can tackle this in a day or two but take your time with it and practice it and digest the exercises, and CERTAINLY read it till the very last page because there's a VERY powerful exercise at the end that really put the final nail in this horrible coffin for me and made me feel like i truly moved on from this.. To the Author, your book has given me the power to overcome this and take all of my energy back and use it to propel my life to reach it's full potential. Thank you.
This book is a lot better than I thought it would be. I've read a number of guides and tips on how to handle RJ, but nothing as in depth as this. This isn't a basic"how-to" guide, it helps you understand what really goes on in your mind when you are having negative or unhelpful thoughts, which in turn allows you to get to the root of the issue and solve it. It takes focus and effort but with this book you'll have a better understanding and how to overcome RJ. Once you detach yourself from RJ you'll become happier and more confident. The help is within this book.

My favorite part of this book was Chapter 9 - Don't overvalue your partner.This chapter discusses that your partner is a mammal just like you. He/she probably has the same desires and wants as you did before you met him/her. He/she did what they felt was in their best interest at the time, and it had nothing to do with you.Your partner is a sexual being, and was long before he/she met you. This was the best takeaway for me.

The disclaimer in the beginning that the author includes is important: he is not a trained psychotherapist - but experience has a voice and strength of its own, and his personal experience with this topic gives this short book authenticity and relevance.I've always believed that a lot of our emotional and physical struggles are symptoms of much larger issues. Retroactive jealousy is one manifestation of deeply embedded insecurity. I have always felt confident about myself - my looks, my smarts, my brains. But I've never really felt emotionally secure. This book is just another witness to the idea that instead of focusing so much on the symptoms and how to treat them, it is good to take several steps back and see what we can do to improve the major areas of our lives and to find balance in our physical, spiritual, emotional and mental well-being. When we do this, the symptoms take care of themselves.I enjoyed the practical exercises and look forward to seeing their results.This book doesn't promise immediate results. That's why I like it.
